Guest Expectations: everyone is a critique

My definition of guest expectation is simple and it goes as follow: the level of restaurant will determine the kind of service you get provided with. There's a universal way of serving but with different approaches and manners. The way you treat your guest is the tone you are setting for the evening and if the tone is not according to the establishment then you can already anticipate and foresee the future that the rest of the evening holds. The expectations of the guests that come through our doors are all over the place. There's all kinds of people that come in with certain expectations that are usually exceeded, however others are not because their process of selection was not done properly. It's unfortunate to have to disappoint some of our guest however as previously specified their selection process was not done properly and thus resulting in a bad experience. These can cost the company several hundreds of dollars due to the loss of customers. Although is not their fault that the guest expectations were not satisfied there's always something that can be done towards a guest to make them leave happy so that they will return at a later date. In the hospitality industry the customer is always right so customer service is key for this type of work force. Not everyone is eligible nor qualified but those who are provide great guest experience at all times, thus exceeding guest expectations.
